For Alantra, music was never a plan — it was a lifeline. Raised with a Caribbean parent and exposed early to different cultures and sounds, she grew up with music woven into everyday life. But it wasn't until she went through a heartbreak that forced her to rebuild herself that she found her voice in it. Writing became a way to say what she couldn't otherwise express, and she credits that period with teaching her a lesson she still leans on: her hardships didn't have to define her, they could fuel her. That mindset shows up in how she talks about her inspiration, too. Rather than pointing to a single artist or moment, Alantra says life itself — the people she's loved, the challenges she's pushed through, the person she's still becoming — is what drives her. She says knowing her story might help someone else keep going is what motivates her most. The Atlanta artist is currently building out her "Yedda Mami" identity, a persona she describes as embodying hustle, resilience, and self-respect. Her new single "Freak Show" is out now on all platforms, with an unreleased album, Claim to Fame, on the way. She calls this stretch her "boots on the ground" season — networking, making connections, and introducing herself to new rooms and audiences. Coming from a background in dance, Alantra says she wants listeners to move past surface-level assumptions about her music and actually sit with the lyrics. She frames her perspective as that of a woman in control — setting the tone, running the room, being the boss — and hopes fans who stick with her will see more layers to her as she grows. Above all, Alantra wants her music to carry a simple message: circumstances don't determine outcomes. She believes consistency and showing up, even without perfect conditions, can outweigh raw talent alone — a philosophy she's hoping listeners take with them well beyond the songs.
