BDB 9081 didn't come up through a single scene so much as a stretch of geography. Raised between Holtville, California and Mexicali, Baja California, with time in Calexico too, he's spent his life moving between rural quiet and city pace, and between the U.S. and Mexico. That back-and-forth shaped how he sees the world, and it still runs through the music he makes today.
He started writing lyrics and poetry back in middle school, but music didn't become a formal pursuit until he co-owned a music studio in Mexicali. That hands-on studio experience gave him a foundation in Hip-Hop, R&B, and Reggaeton, genres he blends rather than picks between. Eventually he left home for college in San Diego, a city he now calls home and refers to affectionately as "Daygo."
Ask him about influences and he'll point to Drake, Immortal Technique, and Linkin Park, artists who, in different ways, turned personal experience into something bigger. That's the model BDB 9081 is working from himself. By his own account, the goal behind his music is motivation: he writes from personal hardship and how he pushed through it, or from the discipline of the work itself, hoping listeners find something to apply to their own lives.
He's also using his platform to look outward, with an ongoing effort to spotlight other artists and music coming out of the Mexicali/Calexico region, a corner of the map that doesn't always get its due.
Fans can expect a run of new singles between September and October, some paired with mic drop releases, with more writing and recording happening in between. Beyond that, BDB 9081 is keeping details close for now, simply saying: stay tuned.
