Carolyne Scott's story starts the way a lot of great R&B stories do: in church. At five years old, she was already singing at Lighthouse Gospel Chapel in her hometown of Milwaukee, the earliest sign of a voice that would carry her well beyond it. As a teenager, that early passion turned into something more deliberate — she started recording music and working at a record station, learning the industry from the inside before eventually releasing her first record and stepping fully into life as an artist.
That throughline, from gospel pews to the stage, still shapes how she thinks about music today. Scott points to the women who came before her — artists who used their voices to create change and leave something lasting — as her biggest inspiration, alongside her own lived experience and the people she connects with through performance.
These days, Carolyne Scott wears more than one hat. She's a singer and songwriter working on original music, and she's also a professional tribute artist and Las Vegas live entertainer, currently running a one-woman residency as both the city's Tina Turner and Whitney Houston tribute performer — a run she says has continued for three years. Rather than treating those two lanes as separate, she's leaning into the balance between them, using each to sharpen her range as a performer while she builds out her own brand and original catalog.
What ties it all together is intention. Scott says she wants listeners to feel seen and empowered when they hear her music — reminded that their experiences matter, their voice matters, and they have the strength to push through hard moments. As she keeps developing new performance opportunities and pushing her original songs forward, that's the mark she's aiming to leave: music that makes people feel something real.
