Dooley KP has been rapping since he was seven years old, and he talks about it less like a career choice and more like a calling. "I was chose," he says of his start, and in the years since, performing has stayed woven into his life without pause.
Originally from Valdosta, Georgia and now based in Phoenix, Arizona, Dooley KP works in a lane he's named himself: "Koetry," a blend of Kountry and Poetry that fuses Southern rap traditions with storytelling. It's a style that makes sense given his influences — he points to Outkast, 8Ball & MJG, UGK, Luke, T.I. and the broader lineage of Southern legends, alongside 2Pac, as the artists who shaped his ear. But when asked about his biggest inspiration overall, he keeps it simple: living life itself.
Dooley KP is preparing to release a triple-disc EP titled "The Return 2 Olop," a project sizable enough in scope that it hints at an artist thinking beyond a single song or moment. Details on release timing are still to come, but it's positioned as his next major statement.
Live, fans will be able to catch him — going by the moniker "the Olopian Don" — on the "R&B Loves Tequila" tour, which he says is headed to a city near you.
At the center of it all, Dooley KP says he wants his music to do a few specific things for listeners: bring enjoyment, offer knowledge, and help people feel good about themselves. It's a modest but clear mission statement from an artist who's been doing this since childhood and doesn't seem interested in stopping. As "The Return 2 Olop" approaches and the tour dates roll out, Atlanta-area listeners will have their first real chances to hear where Koetry goes next.
