Allen Lindsey has been in the music business since the late 1980s, when he was coming up in New York and taking on internships to learn the industry from the ground floor. That hands-on start set the tone for a career that's kept him working behind the scenes for decades, and these days he calls Atlanta home base.
Asked about who inspired him along the way, Lindsey's answer is straightforward: nobody in particular. He says he's never looked outside himself for motivation, preferring to chart his own course rather than model his path after someone else's.
Right now, Lindsey's biggest focus isn't a tour or a signing -- it's an app. He recently completed work on Memora Echo, a project he describes as the thing he's most locked in on at the moment. Alongside that, he's still active on the live side of the business, with shows in the works for artists he's connected to.
Looking further out, Lindsey has two events on his calendar that Atlanta should keep an eye on: one coming this October, and another bigger one down the line -- Kulturefest, which he's bringing in March during SXSW weekend.
As for what he wants people to walk away with from his work, Lindsey keeps it simple and direct: if there's something you want or believe in, you have to be willing to put in the work for it. It's not about waiting for the right inspiration or the right moment, in his view -- it's about grinding until you get where you're trying to go.
From internships in New York decades ago to building an app and staging festivals in Atlanta today, Lindsey's story is one of steady reinvention -- and he's not done yet.
