By Sienna Atlantis | This Iz ATL ATLANTA, GA — This Iz ATL had the opportunity to ask Jacob Latimore a couple of questions on the red carpet at the Living Legends Foundation’s 35th Anniversary Awards Dinner & Gala on October 2 at Flourish by Legendary. The actor and recording artist spoke about authenticity and “trusting the gift that God has given you.” His message focused on staying true to yourself, finding what is meant for you and trusting God’s plan. Latimore touched on how people look at social media, where someone else’s accomplishments can become the measure of their own progress. He emphasized staying connected to who you are instead of allowing what you see online to determine your path. It is a message that speaks to anyone trying to find their footing. With so many careers, milestones and success stories on display, it can be easy to question your timing or overlook your own abilities. His words offered encouragement to trust the gifts you already have. Known for playing Emmett Washington on The Chi and for his recording career, Latimore has explored his talents through both acting and music. On the red carpet, his focus was on the faith and sense of self that can guide that journey. As the gala celebrated people who have helped shape Black music and entertainment, Latimore’s remarks offered something for those still building their own careers: encouragement to remain authentic and believe in what God has given them.
