Long before Jerzey Julz was recording songs, he was singing them — in the kitchen, alongside his mom, before ever stepping near a microphone. That early, informal introduction to music grew alongside a stint playing trombone and years of writing, eventually shaping the melodic, hip-hop-and-R&B sound he now carries as an independent artist out of Orange, New Jersey. Julz, who uses he/him pronouns, describes his sound as a blend of hip-hop, melodic storytelling, and what he calls "Jersey-rooted energy" — a mix of smooth delivery and lyrics meant to feel relatable rather than performative. It's a sound he's built out release by release, with a catalog that includes tracks like "What's Up," "Show-N-Prove," "Got It All," "Hold Up, Wait, Chill," and "'Til The Casket Drop," along with the "Chess Moves" single and his "Love Cycle" project. Asked about inspiration, Julz points inward rather than to another artist. He calls himself his own biggest inspiration, framing his run in music as proof of persistence — a way of "living my dreams even when people didn't believe in or support me," as he puts it. That throughline of resilience carries into his next move: an upcoming EP titled "What's Love?", which he describes as a majority R&B project — a shift that leans further into the melodic side of his catalog while still keeping his hip-hop foundation intact. For Julz, the goal isn't spectacle — it's connection. He says he wants listeners to walk away with something that feels authentic and relatable, music people can actually see themselves in. As he continues building his brand through visuals and live-ready presentation, "What's Love?" looks like the next step in that ongoing introduction — Jerzey Julz, still very much in motion, expanding his sound one release at a time.
