Michael McWhite didn't set out to become a producer — it started as a hobby during his sophomore year at Coastal Carolina University, when he discovered Fruity Loops and began making beats in his dorm. What followed was, in his words, an obsession. After graduating in 2016, he spent his time on Twitter and Instagram cold-connecting with established rap artists, submitting beats and hoping something would land.
Something did. On October 31, 2017, he got his first placement, co-producing "Potato" on Plies and Kodak Black's joint project "F.E.M.A." Four days later, he packed his Jeep and moved to Atlanta to chase music full-time, launching the career now known under the name Mike Mixer.
Since then, the South Carolina native has built a catalog of placements and partnerships. His most recent is a production credit on track 11 of Hoodrich Pablo Juan's debut album "The Bloprint," alongside co-producer QuisGotHitz. He's also continuing to work with Hoodrich on upcoming mixtapes, and he's been active with a wide network of rising artists from Atlanta and beyond, including Mia Snow, DJ Stussy, K Alley, Shaudi Man, Bri Biase, Que Dawg, 4Fargo, and FYB. Alongside his production work, he releases his own lo-fi music under the Mike Mixer name, available on streaming platforms.
For Mike Mixer, the goal isn't just placements — it's staying power. He describes his work as an attempt to bridge memory and imagination, crafting sounds meant to evoke deep nostalgia while giving listeners' minds room to drift.
Now signed to Warner Chappell and part of the Winners Circle Music group, he's also plugged into the local scene in a hands-on way — the group hosts weekly Tuesday sessions at Arabian Cafe on Roswell Road, open to artists, producers, and songwriters looking to network and get heard. The next one lands September 22nd.
