Milkah Is Turning a Lifetime of Sound Into Volume III

Milkah didn't stumble into music so much as grow up inside it. Originally from Gary, Indiana, she says she was humming melodies before she could speak and writing stories as soon as she could hold a pencil, a habit her parents noticed early and encouraged by putting a microphone in her hands. From there, music became structure: choir carried her through elementary and middle school, and at Tri-Cities High School she folded in acting and musical theatre, building the layered, genre-blending foundation her work stands on today. That foundation shows in her sound, which she describes as a blend of R&B/Soul, Neo Soul, Jazz, and Hip-Hop — less a single lane than a full range she moves through depending on what a song needs. Ask Milkah what drives the music, and the answer isn't a person or a moment, but life itself. She calls it inspiration drawn from "every aspect of the hue-man experience," the vibrant and joyful stretches along with the flatter, harder ones where discipline is the only thing keeping you moving. That philosophy is shaping her debut album, Volume III: To Be Continued, the first installment of a planned three-part series. The project traces her own arc, she says, starting in childhood and following the thread up to where she stands now — a reflection on growth and self-discovery she hopes listeners will recognize in their own lives. For Milkah, the goal isn't a specific message so much as a feeling. She wants whatever emotion her music stirs up to be fully felt, not just noticed — to be lived in, thrived in, elevated in. With Volume III underway and two more chapters reportedly still to come, Milkah is positioning herself as an artist telling a long story on her own timeline, one volume at a time.
