Virginia-raised singer and songwriter ROBJ didn't set out to build a career in music—it found him early, in church pews and Black History programs, where his mother first noticed the gift and pushed him to nurture it. He tried other paths along the way, including sports and traditional trades, but music kept pulling him back until he accepted it wasn't just a hobby. It was who he is. That foundation shows in his sound. ROBJ cites Boyz II Men and New Edition as the groups that taught him harmony, songwriting, and how to genuinely connect with a crowd, while more modern voices like Ne-Yo, Usher, Chris Brown, and Tank shaped the smoother, contemporary edge he brings to his music today. The result, by his own description, is R&B rooted in the '90s and early-2000s soul era but built for right now. On the road, ROBJ has toured with Trevor Jackson and shared stages with Keith Sweat, Ginuwine, and Soul for Real—experience that's clearly informed how he thinks about performance and audience connection. He's currently working on new music and visuals, and says he's looking to branch into short films and shows as well, embracing the idea that today's artists have to wear multiple hats. Through it all, ROBJ says the goal stays the same: making people feel something real. Whether it's love, confidence, vulnerability, or just a moment they recognize in themselves, he wants listeners to hear his own experiences in the music while making the songs their own. With new releases and visual projects on the way, ROBJ is positioning himself to keep building his lane in R&B—one rooted in tradition, but not stuck in it.
