Fort Lauderdale-born rapper Romee Rombe makes music the way some people keep a journal — as a necessity. Born Jerome Baubien, he found his way into hip-hop and R&B not through some grand plan, but through the realization that music was his clearest way of communicating. "It's my best way of communicating," he says of the pull that first got him writing and recording.
That instinct runs through his catalog, which includes tracks like "White Peacock" and "Don't Mean To," along with his 2023 album Kleaning My Room. The project title alone hints at the process — sorting through what's inside and laying it out plainly. Rombe describes his songs as addressing personal struggles directly, using the studio as a therapeutic space rather than just a creative one.
Ask him about inspiration and he doesn't point to another artist or a specific sound — he points to his own life. That autobiographical thread is central to how he approaches every release, treating his own experience as the material worth building songs around.
Right now, Rombe is working on a new project built around remixes, alongside plans for more shows and a push to reach listeners on more platforms. He calls it simply "growth," and it fits an artist who seems more interested in expanding his reach organically than chasing a moment.
For listeners, the message he hopes lands is straightforward: they're not alone, and there's a reason to keep moving forward. "We all have a purpose, and it's right in front of you," he says. "Utilize it. Fly."
Atlanta will get a chance to hear that message in person — Rombe has shows planned in the city this November, bringing his particular brand of confessional hip-hop to local stages as part of his broader push outward.
